Mr. Spencer Groves, ex proprietor of the "Tumut Times," died on Monday morning at his residence at Tumut at the age of 69 years. He had owned and edited the "Tumut Times" and the "Adelong Argus" for the past 32 years. 1900 - COUNTRY QUARTER SESSIONS. GUNDAGAI, Friday. The Quarter Sessions opened today before Judge Rogers, when Messrs. Spencer Groves, Alexander M'Gruer, Alexander Davis, and E. W. Bridle, residents of the Tumut district, were sworn in as magistrates. There being no criminal cases set down for hearing. Mr. S. 1904 - Recognition - An address and purse of sovereigns were presented on Saturday evening at Tumut to Mr. Spencer Groves, proprietor and editor of the local journal, In recognition of his public services to the district during the past 30 years, more particularly in connection with the agitation for the Federal capital site. 1923 - RIVERINA - Spencer Groves has sold the Tumut " Times" to Mr E. Howard, after 50 years proprietorship. - (Ref- The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1956) Tuesday 17 April 1923).

1931 - BOMBALA.-Mrs. Stevenson, a member of the old Weatherhead family, has died at Wangrabelle, aged 92.-Mr. George Groves, who recently died in Sydney at the age or 73, had been in the Government Prining Office for many years. He was a native ol Bombala, and learnt the printing trade to the Bombala "Herald" office, where his brother, Mr. Spencer Groves, for many years propretor of the Tumut and Adelong Times, also learnt the business. The only surviving member of the Groves family is Mr. James Groves, of Tathra.- (Ref - The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954) Monday 24 August 1931).
