1881 - Government Gazette. - FRIDAY, MARCH ll. - NEW PUBLIC SCHOOLS.-It ia proposed to estáblish public sohools at Gondarin Creek (near Wollongong), Oakendale, Warburton (Two Mile Plat, near Guntawang), Ballarah (noar Cobbora), Berry Jerry (near Junoo), Cuoumbark, Newstead, WittiDgham (near Singleton), Yathella, Yaven Yaven (near Adelong), Wiseman's Perry, and at Barney Downs' Creek, near Tenterfield, to be designated Steinbrook. - (Ref- Australian Town and Country Journal (NSW : 1870 - 1907)(about) Previous issue Saturday 19 March 1881).

1926 - RUNNING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION - TWO BOYS SEVERELY INJURED - A remarkable accident occurred at Yaven Public School, in the Adelong district, when two students, William Adams and Roy Whiting came into violent collision when running in opposite directions. The impact was so severe that one of Whiting's legs was fractured, and Adams received concussion.
