TUMUT. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

Mr Walter Loy left for Temora on Monday last, having secured a position in one of the general stores there. For years he has been a member of All Saints' Church of England and in recognition of his services the members of the choir have decided to send 'him i handsomely bound (Morocco) Cathedral Psalter.

The Gilmore Agricultural Bureau held their monthly meeting on Friday last, Mr. A. Davis occupied the chair! They passed a resolution to be considered at the next conference: 'That all soiling agents be registered.' Messrs. E. Hobson, A. Davis and W. Bridle have been nominated by the bureau to act as delegates at the Hawkesbury Agricultural College conference.

At the present time building is going ahead in Tumut. Two motor garages ire being erected in Wynyard Street. Mr. Jas. Gordon has commenced his now shop and residence. Mr. J. Eobins is having two brick houses built in Simpson Street, and Mr. C. Guy a dwelling in Russell Street. Extensive improvements and alterations are being effected both at the Royal and Woolpack Hotels. Mr. Jas. Hargrcaves, jun of Drummoyne, and late of Tumut, is on a visit to his mother at Tumut Plains. He has recently been in hospital, undergoing an operation to his hand for blood poisoning.

Stella Ballard, aged 9, who dislocated her hip as a result of a fall from a swing, and has been in a Sydney hospital for the past ten months, returned home with her mother on Wednesday last. Unfortunately, the little girl will always show the effects of the accident.

A well attended meeting was held at Brungle on Thursday evening last to make arrangements for the sports to be held on April 30. A programme of events was drawn up, and it was decided to obtain the services of an independent stipendiary steward and to gain permission to use the totalisator. In the evening tho annual ball will be held and as the ladies have taken this matter in hand it should prove a great success.

A combined team of tennis players from Currango and Yarrangobilly visited East Blowering last weekend, and were defeated by 1 set and 5 games.

On Thursday evening last the Fire Brigade members met at the fire station to make a presentation to Fireman K. M'Lenhan, who is leaving the district. Senior Fireman Bates occupied the chair and spoke in laudatory terms of the guest's many cmalities. The re marks were endorsed by Firemen E. Baker, A. Gilchrist, G. Baker, E. and Bert McDonald. The presentation was then made by Mr. Bates — -a silvor cake basket. Fireman M'Lonnan then re sponded, thanking his friends for their kindness.

After the business of the quarterly meeting of tho M.U.I.O.O.F., Tumut Lodge, was concluded on Monday night last a social evening and presentation were tendered to Bro. Ken. M'Lennan, who had been an active member of the lodge for years past. District Master, Bro. A. W. Davis, made the presentation, a wallet of £20, according great praise to Bro. Ken. M'Lennan, who suitably responded. . Several dances followed and then the District Master presented Sister Hibbens with a suit of regalia. He explained that he had offered the regalia for competition among the sisters for lodge attendance, and Sisters Hibbens and Boyd had tied with 20 meetings each. for the 12 months. Sister Boyd had already received her regalia, but Sister Hibbens had been absent from the town. He congrautlated Sister Hibbens on her success.'

A farewell social, dance and presentation was held at the Oddfellows Hall on Tuesday evening last in honor of Mr. Daniel Ryan, of the post office staff, who has been transferred to Gordon. Mr. J. E. Madigan, Deputy Mayor, occupied the chair, and his statements were supported by Rev. Father Kinane, Messrs. Piekhard, E. L. Blakeney, F. Cripps, N. Dillon and Lavis. Mr. Madigan then presented Mr. Ryan with a wallet of notes and a gold medal, with the following inscription: .'To Dan, from his Tumut friends.'
