Joseph James "Joe" HAMPSTEAD was born in 1905 in Adelong, NSW, he was christened on the 22nd June, 1905, in Adelong. His parents were THOMAS C & MARY A E. - (Ref- NSW BDM 10382/1905).

In 1930 Mr Joseph James 'Joe' HAMPSTEAD married Miss Freda Doris ODDY in TUMUT, NSW - (Ref- NSW BDM 8979/1930). Freda was born in 1906 in Tumut, NSW. To parents Frederick Percy ODDY who was born in 1879 in Tumut, NSW and Bertha May BALE who was born on the 13th January, 1884, in Queanbeyan, NSW. Freda died on the 29th September, 2006, in Tumut, NSW.

Joe was a Blowering boy and live a few miles up the river from Freda's house. They were to settle on land in East Blowering and farm till the flooding of the valley in about 1966.
