OBITUARY

OBITUARY - MR EDWARD LYNCH

It came as a distinct shock last Saturday week to hear that Mr. Edward Lynch an employee of James Thorn, Ltd , had passed away at 5 o'clock in the morning. Sometime ago he contracted influenza, but had apparently recovered. Unfortunately pneumonia set in and led to death from heart failure.

'Ted' Lynch was 53 years of age and a native of Tumut, in which district he spent most of the earlier part of his life. For sometime he was in business at Argalong, and then joined the railway service. He came to Temora in 1912, and in 1916 joined the staff of James Thorn and Co, of whom he was a trusted and valued servant to the end. He was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church and an active member of the H.A.C.B.S., in which for a term he was the president.

His wife died in June leaving a young family of six, to which he had since been With 'itidtfifcyS'fiiPfatire*.' Their loss is indeed a very heavy one and they will have the very genuine sympathy of all residents. The oldest is about IS and the youngest, only. seven. Two sisters of Mr. Lynch survive, viz., Mrs. E. O Brien, Temora, and Mrs. F. Abbott, Argalong. There are also five brothers.

The funeral, which moved off from the Sacred Heart Church on the Sunday afternoon was largely attended. Brethren of the H.A.C.B.S. acted as pall-bearers and fellow employees of the deceased were fully represented. Rev. Father Kinane performed the last sad rites and the body was laid at rest in the Roman Catholic section of the local cemetery. Mrs. Murphy had charge of the funeraU arrangements. Temora Independent. - (Ref- The Tumut and Adelong Times (NSW : 1864 - 1867; 1899 - 1950)(about) Previous issue Tuesday 19 November 1929 Next issue Previous page Page 1).
