1874 - PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARDS. — The following names are those of gentlemen appointed to form the public school boards of the public schools established at the places specified in con- nection with their names :— Eunonyhareenyah : Messrs. William McIntyre, Robert Dunne, John Davison, John Har- ding, and John Hurst. West Maitland : Messrs. Jacob Gorrick, Edward Lee, George Australia Smyth, John Wil- shire Pender, Thomas Lockwood Cooper, Robert Scoble, William Briggs, and Robert Blair. The following names are those of gentlemen appointed to be additional members of public school boards :— Tumut : Mr. George Stephenson. Adelong Crossing : Messrs. Henry Moon and James Teare Wearne. Cudgegong : Mr. William Stevenson Capper. Nelligan : Mr. Andrew Thompson Gibson. Colyton : Messrs. Robert Thornbury, John Dow, and Robert M Cook. Burkeville : Mr. James Lithgow Cobb. Warialda : George Fullerton, Esq, P.M. Castlereagh : Messrs. James Evans and William Landers. Tamworth : Messrs. 1876 - During the past week, Mr Hooking, District Inspector of Schools, has paid us an official visit and has exprèsed himself highly satisfied with the general proficiency of the various schools in and around Tumut Mr. Hooking spent two (days examining the pupils attending the Public school, 119 children were present out of 140 enrolled. SPECIAL NOTICE UNDER REAL PROPERTY ACT.- Applications having been made under section 79 of the Real Property Act, by the undermentioned, to b9 registered as "Proprietors by Transmisión of the lands hereunder described, such applications will be complied with and Certificates of Title issued in accordance therewith, unless Caveats are lodged on or before the date named on ,osite each case respectively.

1906 - THE EDUCATION POLICY. WAGGA, Sunday. - The Department of Publie Instruction has decided that Wagga Superior Public School shall be a district school for the training of probationary students, and of applicants for positions as teachers of small schools under the department.

The Wagga inspectorial district has been rearranged. The following schools aro transferred from the Young to Wagga district:- Brawling, Stockinbingal, Springdale, Combaning, South Combaning, Yarrandale, Sebastopol, Duto, Dudauman, Bagdad, Lynburn, Beaconsfield, Ariah Park; in addition.

Tumut, Tumut Plains, Lacmalac, Mondongo, Windowie, Adelong, Adelong Crossing, Gococnp, aro transferred to Albury; Gobbagaula, Gillenbah, Uroly, Round Hill, and Square Nob to the Hay district. - (Ref- The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954)(about) Previous issue Monday 26 February 1906).

The recent annual hospital ball was a success, over 300 attended the first night and the second night the hall was crowded with juveniles. —At the Tumut Literary Institute annual meeting the balance sheet showed that the receipts were £345/13/5 and the expenditure £350/1/3.

The following committee was elected: Dr. T. B. Clouston, Messrs. R. A. Lester. K. Weeken, R. C. Bray, G. H. L. Harris, R. A. Carrboyd, E. J. Elphick, H. D. Smart, H. Engelman. H. R. Weeden, C. E. Jepsen, C. A. Teasdale, R. M. Thompson, F. Turnbull, N. C. Adams, and C. C. Redford. —

The following local scholarships were granted during the term:

Tumut District School, 10 ;

Tumut Convent School,5 ;

Mundongo Public School,2 ;

whilst one each went to Lacmalac,

Tumut Plains,

Gocup,

West Blowering,
