1. In 1877 John (2nd) SPICER was born in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM 21580) His parents were John (1st) Spicer & Hannah H Mallon.
John (2nd) Spicer in 1908 married Miss Martha WOODBRIDGE in Wagga Wagga, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM 2916). The death occurred in the Wagga District Hospital on Monday of Mr. Alfred Woodbridge, sen., of Lower Tarcutta, at the age of 67 years. He was born at Campbelltown, and had been a resident of Lower Tarcutta for over 35 years. He leaves a family of four sons and two daughters, Messrs. Then in 1935 Martha died in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - Daughter of Alfred and Alice Woodbridge - NSW BDM 18069/1935). Newspaper - Mrs. Spicer, wife of Mr J. Spicer, of West Blowering, passed away at the District Hospital. The deceased was 46 years of age. Death was due to pneumonia and kidney complications. In 1959 John SPICER parents JOHN & HANNAH died in TUMUT, NSW - (Ref- NSW BDM 17490/1959).
In the 1930 NSW Elect Roll it shows a John SPICER living at West Blowering working as a Labourer with Martha SPICER living in West Blowering and work as Domestic Duty. Then there is also a John Spicer shown in the 1936 NSW Elect Roll as living at West Blowering with employment as a Labourer - (Ref NSW Elect Roll 1936) Records show that John died in Tumut, NSW, in 1959 - (Ref - NSW BDM 17490/1959).
1. 1908 Jean Evelyn Alice Spicer was born in Cooma, NSW (Ref-NSW BDM 34791/1908) Then on the 7th February, 1927 - she married Mr Arthur Rolf Eggleton , at the All Saints Church of England, River Street, Tumut, NSW. He was the son of Thomas & Alice Eggleton and also came from a farm that was just south of her at West Blowering . As the result of this marriage four children were born locally, 3 sons and a daughter. Again some marrying from within the valley. And many grand children were born into the area in later years. Then in 1966 Rolf died in Tumut. (Ref - NSW BDM 34196/1966). Later in 1995 Jean died on Saturday the 4th Nov 1995 in the Tumut District Hospital, Tumut - (Ref - Tumut & Adelong Times). - NEWSPAPER - The wedding of Miss Jean Eveline Alice Spicer, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Spicer, of Tumut, and Mr. Artnur Rolf Eggleton, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eggleton, of West Blowering, was celebrated in the Catholic Church, Tumut, on February 1. Rev. Father Donnelly officiated. The bride wore a pretty frock of white erepede chene and silver brocade. Her white tulle veil was worn with a lovely wreath of orange blossoms. 3. Alfred John (Jack) SPICER was born in 1912 in Tumbarumba. There is an Alfred John SPICER shown in the (1936 NSW Elect Roll) - Newspaper - Death over a Meal - Timber worker gets 8 years - WAGGA, Wednesday: A timber worker who shot dead a political refugee from Europe in an argument over preparation of a meal was sentenced to eight years' gaol today. He is Alfred John Splcer, 44, of Tumut. He pleaded guilty to a charge of man slaughter, after the Crown dropped its original charge of murder. Mr. Justice Dovey said in the Supreme Court although Spicer lived under primitive conditions, he had no reason for taking the law into his own hands. Spicer shot Mirko Paulin, 32, Yugoslav migrant, at Yellowin, near Tumut, on June 3. Mr. Justice Dovey said Spicer's action was unwarranted and unjustifiable. "Paulin came to Australia to escape political oppression and expected to be treated lawfully in Australia, and at the same time obey Australia's laws." 5. 1914 Margaret SPICER, was born in Tumbarumba, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM ?) In 1936 Margaret is shown in the 1936 Elect Roll as living at the "Woolpack" Hotel and employed as Home Duties - (Ref - NSW Elect Roll 1936). Then in 1939 Margaret married Mr Albert (Bert) SHEATHER in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM 23122/1939). Bert was to own a Backery in Wynyard Street and they later purchased "Kinloch" West Blowering and had Margaret's brother George and June manage it until about 1950 when the Stephenson's purchased the property.
6. 1916 Dorothy SPICER was born in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM ?) In 1937 she married Mr Jack PATTON in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM 22201/1937).
7. 1918 Thelma May SPICER was born in Tumbarumba, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM ?) In 1942 she married Mr William Albert BARTON in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM 25757/1942)
8. In ? Gwendolene SPICER was born in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM ?) Then in 1943 NSW Elect Roll shows Gwendoline as living in West Blowering work as "Home Duties". Then on the 17th February 1945 Miss Gwendolene Agnita SPICER, daughter of John & Martha died in Tumut, NSW - (Ref - NSW BDM 5880/1945)
9. Kenneth (1st) SPICER was born in Tumut, NSW - (Ref NSW BDM 33836 & M B). Then in 1948 Kenneth (1st) Spicer, drowned in the Tumut River in the Talbingo area. After running off the road in his Blitz Truck. He was found by Mr Les Davey some days later caught up in a willow tree. (Ref - NSW BDM 26005/1948). NEWSPAPER - TUMUT TRAGEDY. - It is believed that Kenneth Spicer, aged 19 years, a son of Mr. J. Spicer of Tumut, was drowned in the Tumut River late on Sunday afternoon when a heavy blitz waggon that he was driving crashed into the stream about 300 yards on the Tumut side of the Talbingo Hotel. The lorry was recovered from the river after a search, but Spicer's body could not be found. - (Ref- The Burrowa News (NSW : 1874 - 1951)(about) Previous issue Friday 22 October 1948 Page 6). NEWSPAPER - Body Of Drowned Man Found TUMUT: The body of Kenneth Spicer, who was drowned in the Tumut River on October 17, when his truck ran into the river near Talbingo, was found late on Thursday by Les Davey, of Yellowin. Since the tragedy it had been the custom of Davey to make periodical searches along the banks of the river near his father's property at Yellowin. Early the following morning, Sgt. H. Hickson, in company with Snr. Constable J. Derrick and Constable J. Brydon. went to the spot and found the body wedged between the branches of a willow tree. The clothes were still on the body which was about three feet above the level of the water. FOUND DOWNSTREAM The body was about four miles downstream from where the truck entered the river. The first meeting of the newly formed Returried Soldiers' Women's Auxiliary was held on Saturday afternoon. The main business was arranging details in connection with the diggers' ball on 29th inst. Mrs. Gulliford's offer to supply flowers for the tables' was accepted. Dancing, games, and euchre tour tournament tok place in the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. Davey, in aid of Mr. H. Ewell's candidature in the E.C. popular man competition. The euehre prizes were won by Mesdames W. Dowling and T. Tutty and Mr. H. W. Baker. A trophy was won by Mr. M. Phillips. £10 was cleared. In aid of Mr. Tom Malone's candidature in the competition, a dance and euchre were held in the Blowering public hall. The novelty dances were won by Miss D. Platt and Mr. S. Hulm; Mr. W. Symons and Miss Oddy; Miss Spicer and Mr. J. Spicer; Mr. Oddy and partner; Mr J. Forsyth and partner; and Miss J. Lefevre. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs. J. Shelley and Mr. G. M'Donell.
