1909 - SHEARERS WANTED. STATIONS IN A FIX. - Sydney, October 12.
- Considerable trouble is being experienced in securing shearing hands. A telegram from Adelong states that shearing there is at present an impossibility, no hands being available. At the Ellerslie shed only three hands turned up, and no cook was obtainable. The same trouble is in evidence at other sheds, the cause being attributed to the showery weather in other parts of the State prolonging the cut out. Greenhills, at Sharp's Creek, is in a predicament. Thistles are now in flower, and if hands are not soon procured the seed, and burr will detract from the value of the wool. The Mount Horeb estate is sending its sheep to Yass to be shorn by contract. Wondalga and the Gap stations are making preparations for shearing, and Condonblonga is doing likewise, Deltroit, Billapalap, and Yabtore are also ready to start when, hands are available. - (Ref- The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1889 - 1931)(about) Previous issue Wednesday 13 October 1909).
